Makerspace Policy

Forge is the Ela Area Public Library District’s makerspace. It is an open, shared environment to facilitate connections, partnerships, and creativity for all ages.

Certain equipment may have proficiency or reservation requirements, and there may be fees associated with supplies. Staff must approve any outside materials used on equipment and reserves the right to disapprove certain materials, tools, etc. The Library cannot guarantee project quality, equipment availability or stability, confidentiality of designs, or specific delivery times.

Food is not permitted. However, covered drinks are allowed. Programs and services may be prioritized for Ela Area Public Library District cardholders. Forge is not available to outside groups as a meeting space.

Ela Area Public Library District’s Behavior Policy, Unsupervised Children Policy, and other technology policies apply to Forge.

The Library is not responsible for how items created in the makerspace are used. Those utilizing the Library’s Forge equipment must do so for lawful purposes. Users must abide by all applicable laws (including copyright law (Title 17, U.S. Code) and patent law (Title 35, U.S. Code)), as well as Ela Area Public Library District policies, while respecting the health and safety of the community. Library staff reserve the right to decline any project request for any reason.
